Michael Essien Dropped From Real Madrid Team To Face Ajax

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has been left out of the Real Madrid team to face Ajax in the Champions League. The 30-year-old has just recovered from an allergic drug reaction but is deemed not fit enough to play in Tuesdays final Group D clash. The on loan Chelsea player is said to have been dropped as a precautionary measure after joining the group in full scale training on Monday. Essien only returned to Madrid on Saturday after undergoing a week-long treatment at Chelsea. The Ghana international is being closely monitored in training as he fights to regain his sharpness. Essien could now make his return this weekend when the Spanish champions travel to take on Real Valladolid in La Liga.
