Baba Jamal Finally Wins Akwatia Seat

The Deputy Minister of Tourism and Parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia Constituency, Baba Jamal has finally won that seat after four attempts. Baba Jamal beat incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Kofi Asare with 557 votes. Baba Jamal polled 20,471 while the incumbent got 19,914. The Deputy Minister during his campaign launch two months ago told the constituents that despite the fact that he was not the MP he had helped in the divestiture of the Ghana Consolidated Diamond (GCD) to the Great Consolidated Diamond Limited (GCDL) to ensure that all the workers of the former company received in full all their entitlements. He argued that apart from that, he had helped in the creation of a separate District out of the Kwaebibirem District which had become a reality with the inauguration of the Denkyembuo District. These might have played hugely in his favour in the polls.
