EC, NPP Polling Agents 'Meeting' Claim Is Senseless - Afari Gyan

The Electoral Commission has denied claims by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) that it is inviting its polling agents to a special meeting. This follows the partys rejection of the electoral results and its subsequent threat to seek legal redress. The NPP issued a statement on Friday cautioning its polling agents against participating in any such meeting. It said its agents in the Eastern, Volta, Northern and other regions have received invitations for the supposed meeting from the EC. But Chairman of the EC Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan says the claims are false. We are not inviting anybody. It is not true; it is not true. I dont have any idea about it; it is not true, he vehemently denied. He expressed disquiet about the allegation wondering why such spurious allegations will be made against the Commission. Why would we call their agents to a meeting? For what? We are calling NPP agents to a meeting for what?... They are not our agents. They appointed them, we didnt appoint them [so] why should we invite them to a meeting? Dr. Afari Gyan said the allegations do not make sense and must be stopped.
