NPP: We Will Only Partake In Decisions That "Directly Affect" Ghanaians

The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has said that they will only take part in decisions that directly affect Ghanaians. This follows its decision not partake in the appointment committee's vetting of President Mahamas ministerial appointees. According to the party, the current John Mahama administration is temporary and transient and would not last beyond the determination of the case. A statement signed by the party Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, said even though the party recognizes that its MPs have a responsibility to represent the interest of their constituents, the NPP would however not participate in any deliberations and decisions on matters which would evaporate upon cessation of John Mahamas administration. Speaking to Tweneboa Kodua (TK) in an interview on Peace FMs morning show Kokrokoo, Hon. Dominic Nitiwul, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bimbilla in the Northern Region said if the Supreme Court rules in favour of the NPP, and President Mahamas administration comes to an end, the Ministers goes with him. However, issues that will last permanently and affect the lives of Ghanaians will have the NPP participating in it. Anything or any decision that will not last upon the cessation of President Mahamas administration, we will not involve ourselves. As for the loans, if you are going to contract loans, whether you are president by the decision of the court or not, the loan is still acknowledge and so for such things, we will be there; we will partake in them fully. Anything that directly affect the people, we are going to take part he said. We cannot participate in the vetting process of the current ministers put forward by President Mahama. This is because of the case we have in court; challenging the validity of the election results. For us as a party, caucus and supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), we cant go and give legitimacy to the executive arm of government and it is important we make that statement very clearNow if we go and aid in vetting his assistants or appointees then we have virtually accepted that there was no problem with the election he added.
