A Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Nii Ayikoi Otoo has also criticized the slow pace at which the civil and criminal cases against businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome are progressing.
The High Court�s hearing both cases have adjourned on six occasions the case involving the controversial 51 million Ghana cedis judgment debt paid Mr. Woyome.
Prosecution witnesses have failed to turn up on all the occasions causing delays in the hearings.
Speaking to Citi News, Lawyer Ayikoi Otoo said the time being spent on prosecuting the case by the state is unnecessarily dragging.
�In legal practice, we sometimes refer to some cases as high profile cases and Woyome�s is one of such cases,� he stated.
�In view of the interest taken by the ex President, the minority and the fact that the EOCO was asked to do some work and they came out with some figures which we all seem to have accepted.�
Lawyer Otoo further stated, �My worry is that we are using the fast track system in this trial and I hope that the machines are still working because I am aware that in some of the courts, the recorders have broken down.�
�If the machines are working then it means we have sufficient evidence to go by,� he added.
