NPA Suggests Review Of Petroleum Prices Every Two Weeks To Avoid Increase

For years, fuel has played a pivotal role in the running of the Ghanaian economy. The commodity is so important that any time there are prize increases; it cuts into the belly of society by affecting the prices of virtually everything. That is probably why government for sometime has subsidised the commodity, particularly for the poor in order that they do not feel the pinch of any price hikes. The Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority, Alex Mould says the best way to avoid sharp increases in petroleum prices is for government to allow the NPA to review the prices every two weeks. He told Radio GhanasBehind the News that the heavy subsidy on petroleum products is the major contributing factor to smuggling of the commodities.
