The Ghana Armed Forces on Sunday held a non-denominational thanksgiving religious parade with a call on officers to embrace unity and discipline in their endeavours. The programme, which was on the theme: �Unity in Diversity� brought together officers from the Military, Navy and the Air Force. Lieutenant Colonel David Banownuma Bangsiibu, who made the call in a sermon, cited a biblical example of how Paul referred to the Church in Corinth as the body of Christ, in spite of their flaws and inadequacies. �He uses this image of one body with many parts as a way of reminding the people in the church how interdependent they are upon one another, without one another, none of us can accomplish much,� he stated. According to him, the core army values, such as loyalty, duty, respect, honor and integrity, could be fully adhered to through discipline. He encouraged officers to place love, unity, and care at the centre of their lives, adding �life is about people connecting with people and making a positive difference�. Lt Col Bangsiibu advised parents to lead lives worthy of emulation since children tended to imitate the attitude of adults at home. �Children are remarkably perceptive, their eyes observe, their ears ever listen, and their minds ever process the messages they absorb,� he said. As part of the service, special prayers were also offered for the nation, GAF, peacekeepers, the youth and the sick.
