Arrest And Prosecute Owusu Bempah...Young Democrats Tell IGP

Pro-NDC youth group, Young Democrats on Tuesday petitioned the Inspector General of Police to the arrest and prosecute Ernest Owusu Bempah and the leadership of the 'Let my Vote Count' group. Speaking to Citi News after they submitted the petition at the police headquarters, the Deputy Director of Communications for the group- Abass Osabutey said that the police must arrest Mr. Ernest Owusu for making threats against Judges of the Supreme Court. He also added that the leadership of the Let my Vote count group should also be arrested for bombs that were discovered at the Bureau of the National Communication at Labone. We presented the petition for them to move swiftly and arrest leadership of Let My Vote Count Alliance. They are creating a lot of platforms for people and disturbing the peace of this country, he stated. Mr. Osabutey indicated: Mr. Owusu Bempah said if the judges do not do what they want, and declare it in their favour, what happened in 1982 will happen again in this country. Currently, the judges are worried and confused that in the event that their final verdict comes out, what is going to happen to their families. The group also demanded that the police come out with investigation updates about certain attacks that occurred during the election. During the election, we all heard what happened to Dr Opuni, in Kumasi; the bomb throwing exercise, Mr. Alfred Mahama; Brother to the President and at Manhyia when the sitting MP, Matthew Opoku Prempeh and his thugs attacked an NDC activist, he said. He also said, We want to know how far the police investigation has gotten to and what is going to happen to the people after they are arrested, interrogated and if possible, prosecute them so it will serve as a deterrent to others who want to engage in such nefarious activities that is detrimental to the peace and stability of this country. Mr Abass said if no action was taken by the police in 2 weeks, they would embark on a massive nation-wide demonstration. Our members cannot wait any longer. At our maiden press conference, we made it clear and after that was a petition. Coming soon is going to be a massive nationwide demonstration to that effect because we cannot sit down when lives are threatened, he stated. This petition was a follow up on a press conference held on 8th February on the same issue. The petition also requested that the police should provide security for Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan, Prof. Rev. Emmanuel Asante and Dr. Wereko Brobbey since they had reliable information of plans to attack and possibly eliminate them.
