NDC Government Has Not Been Truthful To Ghanaians

A Deputy Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has said that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) politicized the current load shedding exercise to lure votes from the electorate, when they knew there was a problem to solve at hand. According to Sammy Awuku, since the NDC misinformed Ghanaians during the campaign season, the current problem must be politicized so the truth would be known. I disagree strongly if anyone will say the load shedding issues shouldnt be politicized. They (NDC) used this tactics to gain power and we must use that same tactics to enthrone them from the seat of government. People accepted these dishonesty and voted them in. The NDC blamed Ex-President Kufour for the load shedding, even at that time when the Akosombo dam was failing to generate power, he said. The outspoken leading member of Let My Vote Count Alliance further recalled that, the then candidate Mills in 2008 promised Ghanaians that the blackout would end when President Mahama was then his vice. In 2008 when President Mahama was the then running mate to the then candidate John Mills, they said on various campaign platforms that the power rationing will be a thing of the past and when voted into power he (Mills) will deal with it. We enjoyed the blackout for four years under the NDC ruling and even at a point, the outspoken communications director of President Mills, Koku Anyidoho said the erratic power supply had ended, he said. Speaking on Peace FMs kokrokoo programme Tuesday, Sammy Awuku yet again said, President Mahama also promised to end the crisis but has been unsuccessful. When President Mahama was reading his policy statement after Mills death, among other things, the President promised to end the erratic power supply in October 12. Again he (President Mahama) made the same promise when his party (NDC) launched their manifesto in Ho during the campaign season. The president said the same thing during the IEA debate, he recounted. ..Consistently, this government (NDC) has not been truthful to the people I will politicize this issue because government is responsible for employing the boards of VRA and ECG, he told Kwami Sefa-Kayi. Sammy Awuku also alleged that, there were Mafias in both VRA and ECG who are also importers of generators, so to solve the power rationing will be a hindrance to their booming businesses. I will also not rule out Mafia in the system, Mafia because when you go to Nigeria, because of their NEPA, Nigerians are used to generators due to the fact that the importers are a good lobbyist group. Now that is what ECG is also doing and gradually the situation is worsening, he said.
