Sack Ghana Water MD - Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt Jr has called for heads to roll at the Ghana Water Company Limited over the expired aluminum sulphate import saga. The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper is also advocating prosecution of the Managing Director. The National Security is currently investigating the circumstances under which the expired consignment of alum was imported from China for purposes of purifying water for the consumer. The story which was first broken by the New Crusading Guide Newspaper raised anxiety among the public. The Ghana Urban Water Company Limited has come out to admit the consignment was expired but however denied any of it was used to purify water at any of the treatment plants. Kwesi Pratt Jr told Metro TVs Good Morning Ghana Programme on Wednesday February 20, that those at the helm of affairs must be dismissed and dealt with by the law. Sack them, he charged and prosecute them. Mr Pratt said most of the public officials at the helm of affairs even get paid more than the President and yet have failed to deliver and solve problems under their ambit. Meanwhile, the Ghana Water Company has denied using expired chemicals from china to treat water for public consumption. It claimed that some of the chemicals distributed at the Weija treatment plant sparked misunderstanding between engineers there and suppliers of the chemicals. Communications Manager Stanley Martey said the report is false adding that the chemicals which got expired during the transportation process are not being used.
