Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea, has lampooned the managing editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt for attacking the NPP�s decision to boycott the State of the Nation Address by reminding the latter that he has in the past; engaged in series of demonstrations which spanned for years. Nana Akomea wondered why Mr. Pratt would justify his mode of expressing his grievances with a particular government as the best, and punch holes in the NPP�s style of telling the world they are not satisfied with the way the 2012 general elections was handled. Kwesi Pratt Jnr., took the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to the cleaners on Metro TV�s "Good Morning Ghana" programme over their decision to boycott President John Mahama�s State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 21, by stating that their decision was needless. He further noted that the NPP�s plot to boycott the event wouldn�t take away the needed shine the event deserves and would rather create a serene atmosphere on the floor of parliament. �What would they add if they are in parliament? We have seen them in parliament when similar addresses have been made, we have seen them with �red cards� and we have seen them make so much noise; you can�t even hear what is going on,� Kwesi Pratt said when asked of his view. But speaking on the same platform, Nana Akomea recalled that the Kufour regime knew no peace from Mr. Pratt and his cohorts, when they formed the �Free Tsatsu Movement� to register their displeasure at Tsatsu Tsikata�s imprisonment. �Kwesi (Pratt),I am a little surprised at you saying that because we have a case at the Supreme Court, you don�t see how any other activity can influence the court. Because I have just told you that when Tsatsu Tsikata was convicted by a court and you disagreed...and there was an appeal, you didn�t confine your disagreement to the court of appeal, you formed some movement (Free Tsatsu Movement) and engaged in nationwide activities for one year or more. "It was your legitimate right to take your disagreement aside from filing your appeal at the court...am a little surprised that you want to deny the NPP the same opportunity,� he established. He finally stated that their intention to boycott Thursday�s State of the Nation Address, isn�t borne out of a machination to distract President Mahama and create problems for him.
