Funeral For Henry Ford Kamel Begins In Ho

Funeral for the former Volta Regional Minister, Henry Ford Kamel began Wednesday morning at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) yard in Ho. By 0800 hours, staff of the VRCC and chiefs and queens of Asogli Traditional Area converged at the VRCC yard for a short ceremony in honour of the former Regional Minister. Market women clad in mourning cloth later joined the gathering after staging a procession through some principal streets of the Regional capital. Mr Henry Ametepe, Caretaker Minister for the Region in a short address, said the ceremony was to kick-start a three-day mourning for the late Kamel. He lamented the sudden death of Mr Kamel and called for peace during and after the funeral. Mr Steve Akorli, National Planning Committee Chairman for the funeral said the mortal remains of Mr Kamel would be brought to the Ho Jubilee Park briefly on Friday, February 22, and would later be sent to Hohoe, Jasikan and finally to Guaman, his hometown for burial. Mr Kamel died suddenly on December 25, 2012.
