John Pantsil Spends Night In Police Cells?...Investigations On-going

Black Stars Deputy Skipper of the Senior National Team, the Black Stars, John Pantsil, who was arrested on Friday afternoon by the police in Accra for allegedly causing bodily harm to his wife, is still languishing in police cells. Greater Accra Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, DSP Freeman Tettey who confirmed the arrest said the footballer is being held for domestic violence. According to him, there was an incident in the couples Trassaco Villa residence in Accra at about 5pm Friday. The wife, Richlove Pantsil was forced to jump the wall into a neighbours house, he said. When the neighbour tried to restrain Pantsil who had pursued her to the neighbours compound, Pantsil was said to have assaulted the neighbour. The Legon Police was informed and Pantsil was subsequently picked up for questioning. DSP Tettey said the police had taken a caution statement from the football star for further investigations. Meanwhile, Police say they have obtained the medical report of John Pantsil's wife which indicates she was badly assaulted. The police claim the medical reports they have secured indicate Mrs Paintsil was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition. According to the police, the reports shows Richlove Pantsil sustained several injuries including a severe cut around her eye. But prior to the securing of the medical records, Mrs Pantsil denied she had been assaulted in an interview with the media. She also denied sustaining any injury but however admitted there was a minor incident in the house which she was not prepared to go public. I dont want to go into details he hasnt done anything. I am not at the hospital. Dont believe what the policeman is telling you. I am at home at the moment and preparing to go the police station myself, Richlove told JoyFM. Pantsil, a key member of the Black Stars team that recently participated in Afcon 2013 in South Africa had to take an early bow from the crucial semi-final encounter with Burkina Faso as a result of an injury in the first half.
