Moses Foh-Amoaning: GFA Has Superior Management Skills to Handle Ayews IssueBut Will They Use It?

Former Chairman of the Ghana Boxing Authority and Ace Sports Broadcaster, Moses Foh Amoaning has said the Ghana Football Association has the ability and good managerial skills to handle the shocking temporary retirement of Andre and Jordan Ayew. France-based players Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew announced their temporary retirement from the team on Tuesday in a letter to the GFA. The decision by the sons of football legend Abedi Ayew Pele comes in the wake of their exclusion from Ghanas squad during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. Mr. Foh-Amoaning in an interview with Peacefmonline.com believes that in managing a crop of stars, the likelihoods of encountering such problems is not new but how to manage it is what the current Ghana Football Association (GFA) should be capable of doing. This started with Sulley Muntari; he was one of the first people to retire and came back, then Micheal Essien, then Asamoah Gyan and K.P Boateng. The problem is the FA must solve these issues in a short possible time. If you are managing sports then you are managing a talented industry. Its not everybody who can play football to the highest level, so if someone is talented then they start to flaunt. That is the duty of the managers to manage such situations in a professional way, if not you will have problems all over, he said. According to the renowned lawyer and sports analysts, the current management of the GFA is capable of handling such situation due to their successful handling of similar occurrences. The truth of the matter is, looking at this FA, they have the history of dealing with such problems and they have been successful. In the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Ghanas coach Milovan had a serious misunderstanding with Sulley Muntari and sacked him (Muntari) from camp but the way the FA managed the situation was professional and the outcome was excellent, he said. Adding; If you asked me (Moses) whether the FA has the superior management skills to manage this situation, I will say yes they have the competency, would they use it, I dont know. This is where the FA chairman and the entire management have to come together to solve this issue. He however believes the decision of the France-based players Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew to retire is a family agreement since the duo cannot retire on their own. Both Andre and Jordan cant take the decision without the concern of their father, mother and the entire family. Dede Ayew has a great talent, remember he led the Under-20 to conquer Africa and the world. He has a rich background in terms of sports; I dont think we should throw such an experience away. I expect the FA to discuss this issue with the Ayews family because the boys (Dede and Jordan) couldnt have taken this decision without their father, so the FA and the Ministry must work together to discuss with the family. Lets sit down and get the boys back to the national team, he advised.
