GMA Boss: Government Must Provide Necessary Equipment For Hospitals

Dr Kwabena Opoku-Adusei, President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has asked government to provide the necessary equipment needed by hospitals in the country for effective health delivery. He said this in connection to the death of the Siamese Twins who lost their lives after an operation at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). The Siamese twins were successfully separated on Tuesday after a complicated nine hour surgery by 17 doctors at the KATH. They however, lost their lives after some form of complication. Even though he said the lack of equipments were not the cause of death of the twins, he was sure that its provision will assist the various hospitals to save many lives as possible. He has also advised politicians to desist from doing politicking with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and rather help in making it effective and efficient in the country. This (NHIS) will help in the health of our people and we can all benefit from it. We as a group will also do our best to ensure that some of these cases dont occur. We will also entreat government to provide us with the right equipment he said in an interview on Peace FMs 6pm news bulletin Thursday. Dr. Adusei meanwhile, has sent a word of condolence to the family of the Siamese twins.
