Robbery And Drug Trafficking Has Been Reduced By The NDC - Seth Terkper

Finance Minister,Mr. Seth Terpker, believes Ghanaians should recognize government's effort for taking bold steps to curtail crime rates such as arm robbery and drug trafficking; which has been an albatross around our neck as a nation for long period. In the budget statement read to parliament by the newly elected finance minister on behalf of the president, Mr. Seth Terpker, told the house that the current administration has ensured that our security agencies have been equipped with the necessary tools to combat various crimes. During the presentation of the 2013 budget and economic policy statement of government to Parliament, Mr. Seth Terpker overtly stated that government had procured a total of one thousand and ninety-four (1,094) vehicles of various types and handed them over to the police service. He noted that this bold initiative had further reduced crime rates such as arm robbery, drug trafficking, abuse, violence and inter ethnic conflicts. Government implemented measures to further reduce the crime rate especially robberies, drug trafficking, abuse, violence and interethnic and land conflicts as well. Government procured a total of one thousand and ninety-four (1,094) vehicles of various types, two thousand and two hundred (2,200) bulletproof vest, four thousand and four hundred (4,400) ballistic plates, one hundred (100) helmets with communication gadgets, thousand walking talkies and four speed boats for the police service, he declared. According to him, since internal security is critical for accelerated socio-economic development and the attainment of sustainable development, government would implement measures to maintain peace, safety, security and stability in the country. He also added that with the introduction of the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), it would be easier for the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Service to enhance cases under investigation.
