Prez Mahama: Ghanaians Should Adopt A Sense Of Responsibility And Patriotism

President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to demonstrate a high sense of responsibility to be able to overcome the water and energy challenges currently plaguing the country. Addressing a national parade of schoolchildren and contingents of security personnel at the Independence Square in Accra to mark the country's 56th Independence Anniversary celebrations, President Mahama called on Ghanaians to adopt a sense of patriotism and to use water and electricity wisely. Our economy is burdened with the major water and energy crisiswhile we await the complete resolution of these problems, I wish to appeal to you to demonstrate a high sense of individual responsibility by taking a stand against the abuse and misuse of water electricity and other public services..., he said He cautioned individuals and groups who engage in illegal connection of water and electricity to halt the practice since it draws the nation backwards. All those who abuse our utility supplies either through unauthorised connections or through other misuse, create problems for everyone. We appeal to your sense of patriotism and we urge everyone to demonstrate a commitment to collective responsibility. We are working hard to bring this crisis to an end, he said. President Mahama also indicated that he is working hand in hand with the utility providers to bring the water and energy crisis to an end, adding, it does not rest solely on the shoulders of a single individualit takes dedication, focus and the work of millions before movement and progress can take place. The vision could be an individuals but it will take the millions acting to bring that vision into reality.
