DCE calls for effective partnership to sustain development

Mr Samuel Jones Tawiah, Tain District Chief Executive, has called for effective partnership and cooperation among people in order to ensure sustainable national development. He said good partnership in unity among the people and the world coupled with ingenious innovation would facilitate building a better and prosperous Ghana. Mr Tawiah made the observation when addressing Ghanas 56th Independence anniversary parade on the theme: Partnership and Innovation: Building a New and Better Ghana at Nsawkaw on Wednesday. About 23 first and second cycle schools made up of 525 pupils and students participated in the march past. It comprised three pre-schools, nine primary schools, seven Junior High schools and four Senior High schools. Mr Tawiah entreated the people to unite for the rapid socio-economic development of the society, adding The deep-seated divisiveness and acrimonies in our body politic must give way for tolerance and partnership to move the nation forward for our collective good. He pointed out that success did not mean life without challenges but rather the urgency with which those challenges were resolved. The NDC Government has since 2009 achieved much success, but these may appear to some people as a drop in the ocean. Mr Tawiah cited the water sector, which had received massive investment but was still a challenge in the urban areas. The Assembly has constructed about 106 point source boreholes and 20 mechanized water systems to provide potable water to more than 80,000 people in the Tain District, as well as socio-economic infrastructural development including the construction of road networks, educational and health facilities. Mr Tawiah announced that about 59 communities in the district had been connected to the national electricity grid to bring their percentage coverage to 70 and expressed the hope of extension to the remaining communities by the end of 2015. Prizes were given to schools that excelled in the march past. Meanwhile, Nkoranman Senior High School at Seikwa was honoured for emerging the overall best performing school in the 2012 West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) as well as Living Grace Preparatory School, also at Seikwa which excelled in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
