The Ablekuma West constituency in the Greater Accra Region is expected to come alive tomorrow as the Let My Vote Count Alliance train makes a stopover at the Dansoman Control Market for a rally. The event which is expected to kick start at 2pm is expected to attract thousands of supporters with the likes of Kennedy Ohene Agyepong, the tough-talking Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South on the bill. Others billed to speak at the event include former Finance Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Tema East MP, Daniel Nii Kwartei, Titus Glover and John Boadu, a deputy Communications Director of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). The rest include MP for the area, Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu, Sammy Awuku, another a deputy Communications Director of the NPP, the National Youth Organizer of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Abu Ramadan, Charles Owusu of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Maame Afia Akoto and David Asante. Conveners of the Let My Vote Count Alliance have described the group as a rainbow coalition of a multi-partisan and non-partisan alliance of patriotic Ghanaians. The coalition aims at galvanizing support for the Supreme Court case in which the Presidential candidate of the NPP in the 2012 general elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and party Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey are challenging, not just the results of the polls, but the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama as winner of the elections by the Electoral Commission. Speakers at the rally are expected to speak on several issues, chief among which is how President Mahama and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) allegedly crippled the economy by using state funds to secure the 2012 election by supposed fraudulent means; the future of elections in Ghana and why they believe going to court would as it were bring back confidence in the electoral process; and the case in court. The pressure group has been in the news since the Supreme Court case was initiated by the three petitioners. A week ago, spokesperson of the LMVCA, David Asante, was attacked by gunmen at his Afienya residence. In spite of intimidation and the use of police to harass its members, leadership of the group said they remain resolute in their quest to let every single vote count in the 2012 general elections, asking their numerous supporters to keep the faith and the fire still burning.
