Nana Konadu Tells Government To Make The Economy Productive

A former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings has urged the current NDC administration to improve upon the economy as well as make it productive for women to be able to benefit. According to her, if the economy is stagnated, the women in the country find it difficult to embark on developmental projects or go about their normal duties. She said; "if the country is productive, there will be improvement in the lives of women; which will affect their children, families, society and the entire country". The former first lady who has been quiet after the political hustle and bustle is of the view that government needs to empower women to embark on more productive and hardworking endeavours. Speaking in an interview on Peace FM during Fridays 6pm news bulletin from the Central African Republic (CAR), Mrs Rawlings, who is also the President of the 31st December Womens Movement (DWM), entreated men to be supportive of women who are doing well in the society and not pull them down, as well as encourage those coming up and not disregard or abuse them. When asked what her plans were for the future, Nana Konadu who is also the leader of the National Democratic Party (NDP), said: I am not a soothsayer; and so I cannot say what will happen in the near future.Meanwhile, my focus right now is to continue with women advocacy and empowerment. My number one focus is to encourage every woman to brighten the corner where they are...everything I have achieved as a woman can also be done by every woman in the country; determination should be the key.
