The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has revealed that the party will organize its national delegates congress in December 2013 to elect a new batch of national executives. This revelation was made by the General Secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia at a press briefing at the party headquarters in Accra on Tuesday. Outlining the party�s plans ahead of their national delegates congress, Mr. Nketia mentioned that branch elections will be held by the end of June 30 and July 31 for constituency election. Regional conferences for election have been scheduled to end on September 30. There will also be constituency, regional and national youth conferences that will elect youth organizers for the party. The current crop of national executives will conduct the affairs of the party till January 7, 2014 when their tenure will expire. A parallel women congress from the constituency through regions to national will be organized to elect women organizers. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NDC will meet next week. On the reinstatement of the party�s Deputy General Secretary, Kofi Adams on Monday, Mr. Nketia explained that the Disciplinary Committee which was to investigate the authenticity of the leaked tape which caused the suspension of Mr. Adams could not ascertain the veracity of the voice on the tape due to the poor quality of the recorded voice. Prior to this decision, the committee had advised Kofi Adams to withdraw the case he filed in court against the party executives for his suspension; an advice the letter adhered to and did so on January 10. The Disciplinary Committee concluded that because the case was withdrawn, Mr. Adams� punishment was mitigated after he apologized to the National Executive Committee. The Committee was chaired by Kofi Awoonor together with Ken Dzirasah. Another complaint of misconduct brought by a party member Bello from the Buem constituency has been referred to the Disciplinary Committee after he repeatedly sent the court.
