Ade Coker to Ametor Quarmyn: I Need an Apology From You

Joseph Ade Coker, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on Mr. Ametor Quarmyn, a Communications Consultant to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to place a phone call and render an unqualified apology to him, for his gratuitous vituperation over the suspicion that he (Ade Coker) is behind the grope calling for the dismissal of the head of the National Health Insurance Authourity (NHIA), Mr. Sylvester Mensah. For Ametor Quarmyn to go to that level,he is my friend; I need an apology from him as soon as possible. I need him to call me and apologize to me because of the language he used on me, he cried. According to the NDC Regional Chair, he has not done anything to indicate that he is interested in the position of the Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of the NHIA, which is being held by Mr. Sylvester Mensah, neither has Mr. Ametor Quarmyn got any evidence that he (Ade Coker) is instigating that group which issued the press statement. A group calling itself, the Alliance for the Empowerment of the NDC Constituency Branch Executives, a group associated with the ruling NDC called on President Mahama to sack Mr. Sylvester Mensah, CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, whom they accused of being a failure, burden and liability on the government. The group in the statement signed by its Secretary, Ebenezer Arkutu, maintained that; for the last four years despite massive infrastructural investments and resources available to Mr. Sylvester Mensah, he has woefully failed to provide leadership to realize our dream of one-time premium policy implementation, has failed to send the scheme to rural-urban poor families; as Chief Executive he has been more of a reactionary than a proactive/strategic manager of the institution and the scheme. In an interview with Adom FM, an Accra-based radio station to discuss the issue, Mr. Ametor Quarmyn quickly jumped onto the offensive by asserting that Ade Coker is the originator of the group and he is using it as a screen to get the NHIA C.E.O out of office. He further alleged that, the Greater Accra regional chairman is incompetent and would therefore not last a day in the position of the C.E.O., if someone is doing something and you dont know, Ill plead with you not to go and mess up yourself about it. I know Ade Coker. He cannot stand on the same pedestal with Sylvester Mensah, not even for a second so far as the National Health Insurance administration is concerned.
