UPDATE: Dr Bawumia Doing Well...Discharged By Doctors

The Vice Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party in the 2012 general elections Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who was involved in a near-fatal accident on the Bole Bamboi road in the Northern Region on Sunday, is said to be doing well, Peacefmonline.com can confirm. A leading member of the NPP and the Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko confirmed that the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana has been discharged by doctors at the Lister Hospital where he received treatment after he was airlifted and is recuperating at home. Dr Bawumia was said to be travelling from Bole in the Northern region for the Ashanti Region when two of the tyres of the vehicle he was travelling in exploded 15 minutes into the journey resulting in the accident. The vehicle, according to reports, somersaulted and veered off the road. Also travelling with him was his press aide, Kwabena Boadu, his body guard and his driver known as Emmanuel. Dr. Bawumia and the occupants of the mangled vehicle were driven to Kumasi from where he was flown to Accra for medical treatment. According to a citifmonline report, one of the Specialists who first attended to Dr. Bawumia in Accra, Professor Frimpong Boateng said the astute economist was doing very well and in good condition.
