Emmanuel Frimpong Declares Himself Fit For Sudan World Cup Qualifier

New Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has declared himself fit to play in Sundays World Cup qualifier against Sudan in Kumasi despite doubts over his fitness. The Fulham player says he will be ready to train with the Black Stars for the first time on Tuesday when they start training for the match in Accra. The ex-England youth internationals debut for Ghana on Sunday was in serious doubt after picking up a groin injury late last week. His absence in Fulhams famous 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane over the weekend cast doubts over availability for the Black Stars. But the midfielder, who arrived in Ghana on Monday night, says he will be ready to play in the match against the Nile Crocodiles in Kumasi on Sunday insisting he will be fine. The coach called me this morning and asked me about the injury. I told him I have got a little groin injury but hopefully tomorrow I should be fine to train, Frimpong told reporters on his arrival in the country on Monday night. Frimpong switched nationality last year from England to enable him play for his country of birth. His availability is a boost for Ghana after youngster Christian Atsu was ruled out of the game because of injury.
