Efutu MP: The GH47m SADA Deal Looks Scandalous

Member of Parliament for Efutu Constituency, Alex Markin, has thrown a challenge at government to come out with details concerning the GHC150m investments it claims has channeled into afforestation and guinea fowl projects to yield long term development for the country. The government of Ghana claims it has spent about GHC47m worth of investment in forestation and guinea fowl projects under the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) in 2012 alone. But speaking on Okay FM, the New Patriotic Party MP for Efutu noted that failure on the part of government to give detailed explanations as to how the investment is working for the nation makes it look scandalous. Hon. Markin also brought to fore that it appears government was blackmailing Ghanaians with an investment which doesnt exist. It is good for any government to invest in tree planting and guinea fowl but in all this, we need details. The government cant just tell us it used 150billion old cedis on guinea fowl project and expect us to accept it. Government has failed to tell us where we can find the location where the project is being carried out and the beneficiaries. because it is an investment, we expect returns in years to come and this is some of the details we want. We wonder why the project didnt commence in 2009, 2011 but was only carried out in 2012. We are in 2013, and government has invested a dime in the project. These are issues that create suspicion and to give them the benefit of doubt, we challenge them to come out with the details. The government claims it has planted trees to the tune of 350 billion old cedis and we want to locate where these trees can be found, he requested.
