The chairman for Ghana-China Business Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Hansol mining company, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has appealed to government to deal ruthlessly with Immigration officers who deliberately arrest Chinese operators who have legally signed up to mine precious minerals in Ghana. He acknowledged that attempts by officials to have legal miners arrested, completely leaves him at sea; since it was having an awful effect on small scale mining. A clearly peeved Antwi-Boasiako, told Okay FM�s Kwame Nkrumah �Tikese� that just as the government pulled every difficult strings to get investors invest in Ghana, some of the legal miners had also taken the pain to convince their counterparts from China to help in the mining of minerals without harming the environment. Intervening on behalf of his Chinese clients who have been accosted by the Immigration Service, Mr. Antwi-Boasiako explained that he has documents to attest to the fact that the people behind bars had legal documents to show that they are free to transact business in Ghana. He explained that failure on the part of local banks to provide loans of about $1million or more to small scale miners, made them fall on foreigners who were prepared to assist them with capital and heavy duty equipments for mining. Mr. Boasiako brought to fore that though certain officials from the Immigration Service were frustrating their clients, he can�t deny the fact that certain big mining companies were the brains behind such the untoward arrests. He claimed the collaboration between the local miners and the legal Chinese miners was fetching much money for the local miners and this was making giant mining companies scheme to arrest legal Chinese miners.
