Esperance Fine Clottey US$25,000 For Reporting Late After AFCON

Ghana striker Emmanuel Clottey has been fined US$ 25,000 by Esperance for reporting late after the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal. Clottey joined his teammates in Tunis four weeks after the tournament had ended in South Africa. He was dragged before the club's disciplinary committee early this month but he could not convince the panel why he should not be punished. Esperance fined him 35,000 Tunisian dinars for his truancy and failing to communicate reasons for his absence to them. It will be recalled that another Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso was fined 10,000 Euros by his Spanish club Espanyol for overstaying after the Nations Cup. Clottey was signed from Berekum Chelsea for a Ghanaian record transfer fee on US$ 1.5m. But last month, rumours were rife that his former club wanted to terminate his contract over unpaid transfer fee.
