The NPP Member of Parliament of Takoradi, Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah has said the number of Ministers appointed by President Dramani Mahama is not what matters but rather the ministers appointed must be productive and generate revenue in their various sectors to help solve the country's crisis. President John Mahama, in accordance with article 79 of the 1992 Constitution has named 80 ministers; including Ministers and Deputy Ministers to serve under his administration. According to the NPP MP, the president must not just name Ministers who will not be productive in their line of work. �When it comes to government appointments, I believe numbers doesn�t matter but the productive of the appointees is what matters. What we have to ask is, will the numbers solve our problems? One of the major difficulties with this current government is revenue generation. This should be one of the key areas the government must concentrate on before it appoints ministers. I don�t have problem with the number of ministers he (the President) appoints but my worry is would they (the Ministers) be productive?� he asked. Speaking on Adom FM, Hon Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah believes some appointed ministers are not experience enough since most of them don�t have the skills of leadership and to generate revenue. �The way the president positions the ministers is a key ingredient, the experience of the people and to what extend and the skills they have to engender productivity in the sectors they are signed to work. Unfortunately, the NDC for the past years have not been productive to Ghanaians. They (NDC) have failed in all they promise Ghanaians. They overspent their budget for the last four years and they are not prepared to be discipline. ��Likely the newly appointed ministers by President Mahama will not be disciplined to promote this country as well. That is my problem with Mahama�s Ministers. Their previous ministers did not help this nation and from the look of things that is what exactly is going to happen again with these new ministers. Nobody is against appointing young ministers but their ability to raise revenue for the state is what we are crying for. �The President was wrong to have named only women for the Children, Gender and Social Protection Ministry. Some of the appointments are all coming from the same region which is wrong. During the Mills led administration, the ministers failed and that is the same trend am foreseeing. I think they (Ministers) have to do things differently this time around,� he said.
