We Are In Reverse Gear - Sammy Awuku

Deputy Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Awuku has criticised the Mahama led administration for making so many appointments. He alluded that if former President Kufuor was accused of appointing a lot of ministers when he was in government, the number should have rather decreased and not increased. Samuel Awuku was reacting to the number of appointment made by President John Dramani Mahama. President Mahama has so far named about 85 Ministers and Deputy Ministers to serve in various capacities in his administration. This development has generated criticisms from the Minority and some members of the public with some saying the huge number will cost the taxpayer. Speaking as a panelist on the Kokrokoo Morning Show, Samuel Awuku said the fact that you have a lot ministers does not mean your government will be successful. According to him, more ministers means less productivity and efficiency. If you keep a lot of people in government, productivity and efficiency becomes low. If government will appoint 20 people and they will do the work, I dont have any problem with that. You dont have to appoint a lot of peoplethese ministers are all going to be paid, given cars, bungalows and other benefits. Meanwhile there are a lot o things the country needs which when the ministers are reduced; the money can be used for. I think we are definitely in reverse gear and something needs to be done about it he stated.
