Kotoko Supporters Boo K.K Sarpong for Mismanagement

Unhappy Asante Kotoko supporters have shown displeasure and protested against their Executive Board Chairman Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong for bad management and selling of their best players which they believe have caused the teams early exit from the CAF Champions league. Algerian club, JSM Bejaia, eliminated Kumasi Asante Kotoko on a 1-1 goal aggregate in a CAF Champions League match played at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday. The two sides after ending goalless in the first leg in Algeria, the visitors trim past the Porcupine Warriors on the away goal rule in Kumasi. Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong has come under heavy criticism for his selling policy which has seen as many as four key players leave the club. Last seasons Most Valuable Player (MVP) Daniel Nii Adjei has joined Congolose giants TP Mazembe while striker Ben Acheampong has been sold to Angolan side Petro Athletico. Defender Awal Mohammed left at the end of last season to South African side Maritzurg United while right back Yaw Frimpong is expected to join the exodus train. Midfielder Michael Anaba is also being courted by an unnamed clubs in Spain and Sweden. Interestingly, after the match, majority supporters of Kumasi based Kotoko cheered the visiting team for their brilliant performance exhibited to exit Kotoko but upon seeing the clubs Chairman, they started barracking and called for his removal. Oooooo..away! Away! Away! they jeered. Meanwhile, some supporters also apportioned blames to the players after talking to PEACE POWER SPORTS. The boys (players) are not talented; reasons are that, they are not dedicated on the field of play. No one should blame the coach. The players are bad; always looking up to referees for favour. Again, selling of players by the chairman is also causing the team, he should stop, they opined.
