IMANI Report Is Shameful Energy Minister

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has confirmed that the Ghana Gas Project would be completed by the end of the year contrary to a report by Policy Think Tank IMANI Ghana. That is shameful they should travel to the grounds. If they went to the right place they would have gotten the same results. We were there so they should also make a trip. IMANI Ghana, in its initial report of the inspection of the Early Phase Gas Infrastructure Project (EPGIP), stated that the project is 33% complete and would be ready early 2014. Speaking on Citi Fms Eye Witness news program the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah said about 50% of progress has been made on the project with lots of equipment also arriving as well as people working day and night in order to finish the work. We are working hard to finish the project by the last quarter of this year he said. According to him, the energy crisis that is being experienced is as a result of the destruction of the pipeline that served the country from Nigeria. He noted that the Presidents trip to the gas infrastructural project was to emphasize how critical the crisis is affecting the country. This has reinforced that President Mahamas priority is to ensure that we address the challenges and access to electricity that is constraining our economic growth he said. According to him, the project would ensure that the country gets gas from its own backyard. The 110 kilometer pipeline that would take the gas to the thermal plant in Aboadze has been laid and 45% of hat has already been buried. It is very critical that we keep an eye on the continued increase in generation capacity, he said.
