Kojo Bonsu Breeezes Into Town

THE PRESIDENT�S nominee for the position of Metropolitan Chief Executive of Kumasi, Mr. Michael Mensah Kojo Bonsu, is expected to make a triumphant entry into the city today, as he prepares to face members of the assembly who will be voting on his nomination. Scores of supporters and admirers will throng the Kumasi Airport to welcome his arrival to the Garden City, where he will be the mayor if approved by members of the assembly. The former Sports Administrator, who is expected to sail through, according to a survey by The Chronicle, has the daunting task of having to fulfill the high expectations from members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and members of the assembly as he comes face to face with them. Considering the fact that his nomination generated some uproar amongst some supporters of the ruling NDC which was later interpreted as due to lack of information, Mr. Kojo Bonsu would have to work steadily to win the confidence of residents of the city, especially those within the NDC. Close associates of the former Adidas Assistant Marketing Officer tell the paper that Mr. Kojo Bonsu is duly aware of the challenges and has prepared adequately to confront them. They claim that the MCE nominee has the required experience, considering his impressive resume to handle pressure and also ensure the implementation of policies and programmes that will inure to the benefit of city and its residents. One of the confidants of the MCE nominee, who refused to be identified, said Mr. Bonsu�s vast experience spanning from sports administration to business will be beneficial to the development of the metropolis. Fifty-four year old Kojo Bonsu hails from Offinso in the Ashanti Region and had his GCE/SC �O� Levels education from the Tamale Secondary School, between 1974 and 1979. He then proceeded to the Drayton School, London, in 1981, where he obtained his GCE/SC �A� Levels Certificate. Between 1985 and 90, Mr. Kojo Bonsu joined the giant sports kit manufacturers, Adidas and enrolled in their Football Business Unit at Herzogenaurach, Germany, and did a Diploma in Sports Business and Marketing. In management and skill levels, Mr. Kojo Bonsu is said to possess experience in entrepreneurship with proven managerial abilities in both local and international business, with special training in the management of Football Business. He has strong Business and Sports Sense with proven leadership abilities, as exemplified in the efficient management and control of business offices in Accra, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; Johannesburg, South Africa; and London, UK Apart from his successful businesses in sports, publishing, printing, mobile telephony and commodities, Mr. Bonsu also possesses general business management skills and good working knowledge of management, Finance, Accounting and International Commerce. He possesses vast employment history both locally and internationally in business and sports administration. Mr. Kojo Bonsu is married with five children.
