Substances Suspected To Be Cocaine Seized At Takoradi Port

Security officials at the Takoradi Port in the Western Region, have intercepted a large quantity of substances suspected to be cocaine. It was concealed in a container which contained imported shoes from Panama. Our correspondent in Takoradi, Moses Dotsey Aklobortu resports that officers from the National Security and Customs and Excise Preventive Service (CEPS) have arrested two persons in connection with the substances. The substances, which were in four large wrappers and hidden behind the lining of two ladies bags were concealed in a half-full container. The two persons arrested includes the agent of the consignment who are helping in investigations. The security officers said they became suspicious after realising that the 20-footer container, which had been indicated as full on the declaration form was half-full when it was opened. They conducted a search after rescanning it and discovered the substance. The Takoradi Sector Commander of Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Mr Fredrick Gavor told pressmen that the agent and the importer were helping with investigations
