Those Unseen Faces Fighting For The Right Of Hardened Criminals Must Stop

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno has hit out at members of the general public who sympathize with armed robbers gunned down by the police patrol team. He hinted that individuals, who express such sympathy, often turn out to be people who benefit from the booties of criminals. Speaking to the host of Okay FMs "Ade Akye Abia" programme, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno noted that though the prison homes was specifically made to transform criminals, most of the armed robbery cases they have recorded featured ex-convicts. He stated that it often turns out that most hardened criminals didnt learn their lessons because some unseen faces fought for their freedom. His commentary was based on the aftermath of a shootout that ensued in the death of three ex-convicts who engaged a police patrol team in a shoot-out. The suspects, Mashawudu, Richie and Biggie were said to have opened fire on the police patrol team after they had gone to a drinking spot at Accra Newtown on an unregistered motorbike. According to him, Mashawudu was once arrested and taken to court but was later granted bail on the ticket of Justice for All. Giving a brief detail on the Richie, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno revealed that he had engaged in series of robberies at the Kumasi metropolises and been on the police hit list for long. According to him, Richie had robbed former Defence Minister Ken Dapaah before and had been granted a bail by the court after he had been arrested. Biggie was also exposed to have worked a gang leader and participated in series of robberies in the country. Though DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno stated that taking a criminals life wasnt the best option, he ended by appealing to the general public not to bare their teeth at the Police force after they have conducted an intense investigation to bring the culprit to justice.
