Various student bodies have welcomed the directive that the National Service Scheme (NSS) Executive Director Vincent Kuagbenu should proceed on his accumulated leave.
Without any assigned reasons, Vincent Kuagbenu was asked to proceed on leave by the appointing body and the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme in charge of Finance & Administration, Alhaji Alhassan Imoro will act as the Executive Director until a substantive executive Director is appointed.
The Ghana National Union of Polytechnic Students (GNUPS) in an interview described the decision as long overdue.
Public Relations Officer for GNUP�s, Andrew Atariwini opined that Vincent Kuagbenu has outlived his usefulness and should not be reinstated.
�We will never expect the President or the appointing body to reinstate him in that capacity ; that will just be a massacre because Kuagbenu had four years and even the first year there were some issues that he had with the board.�
He insisted that Vincent Kuagbenu was not ready to learn on the job and should be sacked.
�Kuagbenu is not the type that will learn on the job and for that matter he should give room for other people who are committed to serve this nation with the totality of their heart to ensure efficiency at the National Service Secretariat.�
But Chairman of the National Service Board, Nkunu Akyea said the board had not received any official correspondence on Vincent Kuagbenu�s exit.
Vincent Kuagbenu incurred the wrath of the student�s front when he proposed that undergraduates will direct traffic as part of their service.
