Local Govt. Minister: We Live In A Country Where Officials Talk More Than Work

The minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Akwasi Opong-Fosu has shed more light on government�s intention to soon initiate a nationwide performance-based management system to facilitate high labour productivity in the public sector, particularly at the district assemblies. Speaking to Okay FM in a brief interview, Mr. Akwasi Opong-Fosu divulged that in an attempt to aid the central government overcome inefficiencies that sprout out inadequate supervisions, his outfit was working tirelessly to ensure such predicaments are avoided. In his view, the establishment of the system would keep DCEs and their subordinates accountable for the service delivery. He also noted that implementing the new system was an appropriate tool, to expedite the production growth of the nation by matching promises by government official to their work output. Mr. Akwasi Opong-Fosu, established that we live in a country where most government officials take delight in sugar coated words than giving their best and it was best to assess them using the nationwide performance-based management system.
