Chinese delegation to visit Volta Region

The Volta Regional Development Agency (VORDA), fostering grass roots participation in development planning and implementation, is to hold bilateral business engagement with the third Chinese delegation. This follows the signing of protocols and final agreement in December 2011 in Ghana by both parties. A statement issued from the office of Togbe Afede XIV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, and VORDA, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Monday said. The statement said the two teams would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to cement a sister relationship during a visit of a delegation from the Volta Region to the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the Peoples Republic of China in September 2011. The subsequent signing of the protocols and final agreement in December 2011 in Ghana by both regions is now followed up by the third visit of a delegation from the agriculture sector of Ningxia. The statement said both regions shall carry out exchanges and co-operate in the areas of economy, trade, agriculture, fishery, mining, Chinese traditional medicine, tourism, science and technology, and health to promote common prosperity and development. There will be regular contacts between the leaders and relevant departments of the two sides to facilitate consultations on the exchanges and co-operation as well as matters of common concern. The delegation from China will include government officials, high powered team of entrepreneurs and investors and provincial administrators. Mr Li Xueming, Vice Director General of Ningxia State Farm Administration leads the delegation for the Health sector. The main purpose of this reciprocal visit is for the business community of Ningxia to explore the numerous investment potentials in the region and form partnerships with indigenous business persons in developing sustainable and viable projects. As part of the visit the Chinese delegation would interact with Mr Clement Kofi Humado, Minister of Food and Agriculture, Mr Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, Volta Regional Minister, Members of Parliament and District Chief Executives of the region, Heads of Department, Members of the Regional House of Chiefs and Board Members of VORDA.
