Catholic Priest urges workers to work hard for Gods reward

The Catholic Priest of St. Joseph Parish at Apam, Reverend Father Jude Aduafo Ampah has urged Ghanaians to work hard to increase productivity. He said by working hard they would win favour from God who would reward them with Heaven after their death. The Catholic Priest was speaking during a sermon to mark this years May Day, which is also St. Joseph the Workers Day. The Catholic Church regards St. Joseph the Worker as the Patron of saint of workers and therefore observe the May Day as the day for the Saint. He urged workers to stop regarding governments work as no mans work and advised them to refrain from holding that negative view. Rev. Fr. Ampah cautioned workers against devoting all their attention to monetary gains that they could make from the work they were doing, saying such attitude mostly lead workers into corruption and other negative vices. The Priest noted that, people who work hard and were content with their pays and allowances often received Gods blessing and did not often encounter difficulty. But, he added, those who performed their work anyhow were mostly in difficult. Hard work is rewarding Rev. Fr. Apam said and appealed to workers to ponder over the repercussion any industrial action they embark on would have on the citizenry. Money is not the end of everything the Priest said and appealed to workers to think about their fellow citizens before embarking on strike.
