Sege Gets New Chief

A 33-year-old businessman, Gideon Narh Agbewornu, has been sworn in as the chief of Sege in the Ada East District in the Greater Accra Region. The new Sege Mantse, who goes by the stool name Nene Dameh Agbewornu II, succeeded Nene Nakom IV, who died eight years ago. The chief was on Friday, accompanied by his elders to formerly introduce himself to the members of the Ada Traditional Council. He presented to the council assorted drinks, a big ram and an undisclosed amount to meet the customary rites of the Lomobiawe Clan. Acting on behalf of the paramount chief of the area, Nene Abram Kabu Akuakua III, the Asafoatse Wya Kabiawe, Nene Owusu Sanekey IV, welcomed the chief and his elders to the traditional council. He advised the chief to be loyal to the clan and be accountable to the paramount chief and his elders. He also should report to the council any challenges he might encounter. Nene Agbewornu II thanked Nene Owusu Sanekey IV for his advice and promised to work hard to make Sege regain its lost status. He expressed his gratitude to the people for the confidence reposed in him to be the new chief of the town.
