IGP Visits Troubled Kpemali Community

Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Alhassan on Wednesday visited the troubled Kpemali community near Nakpanduri in the northern region. The Acting IGP who was there on a working visit, said he was in the area to determine the factors contributing to the endless clashes between the feuding Konkomba and Bimoba clans who have been fighting over a parcel of land. He visited some of the identified hot spots in the Northern Region including Yendi and Gushegu where he charged police officers there to live beyond reproach. At a meeting with the Bunkprugu/Yunyoo District Security Committee, the Acting IGP requested for enough resources to boost the morale of security operatives who are there to maintain order. Mohammed Alhassan also pleaded with the assembly to fix the problem of irregular water supply which according to him has been a major challenge affecting the well being of his men on the ground. He was expected to continue with his visit to Bawku and Garu-Tempane in the Upper East region. President John Dramani Mahama on February 2 appointed Mohammed Alhassan to act as the Inspector General of Police until further notice as then sitting IGP Paul Tawiah Quaye was asked to proceed on leave.
