PHOTO: Four Die In Tesano Accident

Four people were killed while several others sustained injuries on Tuesday night in an accident which occurred in front of the Papaye restaurant near the Tesano Police Station in Accra. The driver of a Mercedes Benz truck, which was heading towards Achimota, from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle lost control of the vehicle and rammed into several vehicles. The deceased included the driver of a Kia Pride taxi cab and passengers on board an Urvan mini bus. The accident, which occurred around 10pm caused a vehicular traffic on the Tesano-Achimota road for several hours. An eye witness, Yaw Agyei, told Graphic Online that the Benz truck with registration number AS 9352 G first run into a taxi cab which had passengers on board and skidded off its lane and veered unto the opposite lane crushing several other vehicles. The Tesano Divisional Commander of the Police Motor Transport and Traffic Unit , DSP Ernest Acheampong, told Graphic Online that five vehicles including, the truck, three taxis and an urvan mini bus were involved in the accident. He said the passengers in the taxis and the urvan bus were trapped until personnel of the emergency services rescued them. The deceased have since been deposited at the morgue.
