Govt To Tackle Illegal Logging And Galamsey With Drones

The inter-Ministerial task force on galamsey has hinted it will resort to the use of drones to smoke out the illegal miners. The committee is optimistic that this will be one of the new technologies it will consider in the fight against galamsey. The task forces mandate is to use all legal means to curb the menace. Speaking to Citi News, the chairman of the task force and Minister for Land and Natural Resources, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini said: When we went to Amsterdam; Holland, we met with a group called Estercom and they were discussing the application of drone special technology in the control of illegal logging and mining. They suggested that one way to do it was to deploy drones. He further explained that the drone, which is a small miniature aircraft will just fly over with other instrument that can track exactly they are [illegal miners and loggers]. An earlier meeting between the sector Minister and a Chinese delegation from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Province fell on rocks. The Minister rejected pleas from the delegation that their people should be left alone to do business.
