Colleges of Education should advertise vacancies- Prof Amedahe

Professor Francis K. Amedahe, Member of the Interim Council of the E.P. College of Education Amedzofe (AMECO), has suggested the need for colleges of education to advertise vacancies on their academic staff to attract quality tutors. Prof Amedahe made the suggestion at the sixth Congregation of the College at Amedzofe on the theme: Resourcing Colleges of Education for quality: The role of stakeholders. A total of 172 students; comprising 122 men and 50 women, were awarded Diploma Certificates in Basic Education after pursuing General and French programmes. He said the rigorous selection processes used in appointing principals of the colleges must apply to the academic staff also. Professor Amedahe said through that approach we will be resourcing the colleges with high quality human resource. He therefore advised academic staff of the colleges to upgrade their academic standing constantly. Professor Amedahe hinted that master of philosophy (M.Phil) degree may be the minimum qualification required to teach at the colleges of education. Long service with first degree will not hold. You need not wait until the axe falls on you to relocate, he said. He said quality education is reflected in the quality of the teaching force. Quality teachers, probably, form the heart of quality education, all things being equal. He therefore called on the academic staff of the college to strive to work hard at their jobs so as to be catalysts in our quest for quality education in the colleges of education. Reverend Sylvanus K. Tettey, Principal of the College said the pride and value of the academic facility has been to strive for excellence in every possible field in a spectacular way. He said the greatest value of the College as a para-church institution has been to develop men and women, who can face the world and overcome obstacles with his or her moral force to send light where there is darkness.
