NGO marks TB Joshua's birthday with donations

Passion for Needy, a charitable organisation belonging to the Ghana branch of the Synagogue Church of all Nations (SCOAN), has presented items worth GH4, 000 to two institutions in Accra. The donations are part of the 50th birthday celebrations of Prophet TB Joshua, Founder, SCOAN, which falls on Wednesday, June 12. The two institutions were the Juvenile Correctional Centre at Osu and the Institute for Islamic Studies at Nima. Items donated included toothbrushes, toothpastes, packets of matches, sewing machines, canned tomatoes, cooking oil, bags of rice, bags of maize, loaves of bread and bags of sachet water. The rest were canned fish, tins of milo, packets of toilet rolls, liquid soap, bar soaps, bathroom slippers and Emmanuel TV satellite dishes with decoders. Speaking at the presentation on Thursday, Mrs Janet Torgbor El- Aschker, Chairperson, Passion for Needy, said the organisation was formed by the Prophet three years ago to assist the needy in the society. The prophet loves Ghanaians hence his decision to form this organisation to help cater for the underprivileged in the society, she said. Mr Emmanuel Atidzon, Executive Member, Passion for Needy, urged the children not to allow the circumstances in which they find themselves deter them from achieving greatness. Mrs Georgina Mensah, Centre Manageress, explained that the Centre had four sections namely: the Boys Correctional Centre, Girls Correctional Centre, Boys Remand Home and a Vocational Centre for Girls. She said the correctional homes mainly take care of children given to them by the Ghana Police Service and the Social Welfare Department. These children usually include trafficked children, those who have escaped forced marriages or child labour. She expressed her gratitude to Prophet TB Joshua for the gesture and urged other organisations to come to their aid. On behalf of the inmates, she wished the prophet a happy birthday and urged him to continue with his good works. The donation to the Institute of Islamic Studies was received by Mallam Nurudeen Narry, an Arabic teacher, who expressed his appreciation to the NGO for the gesture.
