MELCOM Gives To National Blood Bank

One of Ghanas biggest retailers, Melcom Group of Companies (MGC) has presented over 400 pints of blood to the National Blood Bank after a nationwide blood donation exercise by the company last Wednesday.

The exercise was held across 13 branches, out of the 25 of the company, as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday, the head of communications at MGC, Mr Godwin Avenogbor, said the exercise was aimed at stocking the National Blood Bank in order to save lives.

He explained that it was also to interact with their customers who have been part of their success stories over the years.

Mr Avenogbor said the branches that took part in the exercise were Koforidua, Sunyani, Tamale, Ho, Hohoe, Teshie, Tema, Cape Coast, Bolgatanga, Kaneshie, Accra Central, Takoradi and Kumasi.

He further explained that Koforidua recorded the highest patronage with 73 donors while Accra Central and Takoradi also recorded the lowest with eight donors each.

The communications head also added that due to the high patronage they would repeat the exercise annually to form part of the companys yearly activities.
