NDC Should Repent And Ask For Forgiveness For Politicizing Drug Trade In Ghana

Current security measures at the Kotoka International Airport have been compromised by the activities of drug barons, according to a member of the Communications machinery of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Asamoah Gyamfi believes it would have been better if the recent arrest of Solomon Adelaquaye (Head of Sohin Security, one of the companies mandated to provide security at the Kotoka International Airport), in the USA for drug related offences was de-politicized, but for the fact that NDC politicized the arrest former Parliamentarian, Eric Amoateng. In a panel discussion on Okay fm, the NPP Communicator said before his party stops politicizing drug related issues in the country, Ghanaians deserve to know the hypocritical nature of the NDC for castigating the NPP when Hon. Amoateng was arrested and also for insinuating that the partys flagbearer abused cocaine and wee. drug trade knows no political color and drug barons make friends with the people at the helm of affairsthe only interest of these barons is to conduct their business irrespective of which political party is in power, he said. In order to address the drug menace in the country, the NPP leading member suggested that whenever a drug baron is apprehended, that person must be condemned outright without reference to a political person he might be seen to be a member of. ...during Ex-President Kufuors era, equipment were placed at the airport to trackdown the activities of drugs baronsmany drug peddlers were arrested in the process; following the arrest of Hon. Amoateng, the NDC rebranded the NPP as a Narcotic Peddlers Party and campaigned on that name-calling slogan in the 2008 and 2012 elections. He said that by virtue of the new name the NDC gave to the NPP, some of us are being compelled to call the NDC as a Narcotic Distributors Congress; in that since the NDC used cocaine menace as a campaign tool in 2008 and 2012 election, they should not have recorded one drug related case involving their party. He therefore stressed that the only way the NPP will stop the politicization of the arrest of the Sohin Security boss is when NDC repent and ask for forgiveness from Ghanaians for politicizing drug trade in Ghana.
