NPP MP: AGs Dept Showed Immaturity

NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Osei Kofi Ameyaw believes the Attorney Generals quick response to Martin Amidu against Waterville ruling demonstrated clearly that he is not on top of issues concerning its operations. He also describes the statement from the A-G's office as a shoddy work. According to him, the A-Gs Department attempt to align itself with Martin Amidus effort to let Waterville cough up over 47m state funds is objectionable. Someone who was the Attorney General and sacked from the office and decided to fight the case in the Supreme Court and have wonnow what is the Attorney General saying? What is their job, are they (AG) researchers to help the private citizen (Martin Amidu)? are they saying Martin Amidus dismissal from office wasnt appropriate so he should resume office immediately? Because for them to say they helped Mr. Amidu win the case means they researched for him (Martin Amidu) to lead the state. This demonstrates that for all this while, Martin Amidu was leading the Attorney Generals Department despite his termination from office, he lamented. The Ministry of Justice and Attorney Generals Department issued a statement that it gave Martin Amidu the needed support leading to the landmark ruling in which the Supreme Court ordered Waterville Holdings to refund tens of millions of Euros to the state. The statement signed by Dr. Dominic Ayine, Deputy Minister For Justice & Attorney General, said the office personally researched and supervised the filing of processes in support of Mr. Amidu. This is also a matter of public record and can be verified. But the NPP MP seeks to find out In what capacity did the Attorney General helped Martin Amidu. So the Attorney General cannot stand alone? Adding, but in this case the Attorney General was dragged in. I did not see anywhere that the Attorney General's consent to the orders Mr. Martin Amidu was seeking. How can they (AG) turn around to say they researched and assisted? However, Hon Osei Kofi Ameyaw called for an immediate investigation into Ebo Barton Odro former Deputy Attorney-General in the erstwhile Atta Mills' administration instrumental role in the Waterville-Woyome saga. According to him, Barton Odro was of the view that government had no case defending the issue in court saying, the payment of the judgment debt rather saved the state money. Where is this statement taking Ghana to? In fact this statement is seeking to bury Barton Odro and all those associated with the payment. Because if the Attorney General is saying they helped Mr. Amidu, then it means that the AG departments by then has documents and information in their office to rely on not to pay Woyome and Waterville and yet they (AG) did, he said on Asempa FM.
