Insurance firms urged to streamline procedures

Mr Simon Nerro Davor, Acting Commissioner of the National Insurance Commission (NIC), has underscored the need for insurance firms to streamline claims and procedures to ensure better quality service to clients. He noted that a good claim resolution process was essential for prompt and fair treatment of policy holders. When policy holders need to make claims, we have to be there and make sure that the whole process or experience is as easy as possible for the customer, he said. Mr Davor was inaugurating the Takoradi branch office of the NIC located in the central business district. He asked insurance companies to adopt policies and high ethical and professional standards by offering innovative insurance services and products. Mr. Davor also urged firms to conduct their operations in a transparent, fair and cost effective manner in order to win the confidence and trust of their clients. He announced that the NIC would come out with a framework on Corporate Governance and Risk Management for operators in the industry. Mr Kwadwo Appiah, Takoradi Area Manager of the NIC, assured his outfits determination to undertake intensive educational drive on insurance to register more clients, saying the Takoradi branch office was opened in view of its economic viability. He, however, appealed to the authorities to resource the office with vehicle and other logistics to enhance the work. The NIC has so far opened three branch offices across the country with the first two located in Kumasi and Tamale.
