Okudzeto Ablakwa Must Resign

ProNPP group, Young Patriots have called on Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to resign for his alleged involvement in the payment of over $300,000 to Isofoton SA. In a statement, the group stated that the latest ruling by the Supreme Court has not only vindicated Martin Amidu but also re-affirmed our fear then and now that Mr. Ablakwa was a direct beneficiary of the said judgment debt and was so motivated to order a Minister to meet his personal need. This follows a unanimous decision by the Supreme Court ordering Isofoton SA to refund the $325,472 paid them as judgment debt by the state as well as interest accrued from the year it was paid. The case was brought before the court by former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Martin Amidu. Speaking to Citi FMs Eyewitness News, the chairperson for the Young Patriots, Richard Nyamah recalled saying, the point is that Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa was throwing letters about to the effect that Isofoton had a contract with the republic of Ghana and that the monies have to be paid. Then, if today the court is saying that it was clear and that there was no justification for anyone to throw that sort of thing about, then he must have had his own motive for pursuing the interest of Isofoton instead of the interest of the state. According to him, the Deputy Minister should have rather helped Mr. Amidu to retrieve the money instead of ordering the payment to be done. Mr. Nyamah described Mr. Ablakwa as a spokesperson, a negotiator and an arbitrator on behalf of Isofoton against the government of the Republic of Ghana. He reiterated that until the investigations we are calling for are done by government, at least we have the right and entitlement to speculate that he is a beneficiary because we do not see what would inform him to go against the state. Meanwhile all, efforts to get a response from the Deputy Minister on the matter proved futile.
