Mim Disappointed In Mahama

THE MIM Traditional Council has expressed its disappointment in President John Dramani Mahama for what they described as imposing the incumbent Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kwaku Doku, on the people in the municipality, without regard to the concerns of Nananom. The Omanhene of Mim, Okofrobuor Nana Dr. Yaw Agyei, stated at an emergency meeting of the Mim Traditional Council that the news of re-nomination of the incumbent Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) had been received with dismay. He said records over the past four years indicate that the MCE does not deserve a second term and accused him of a divisive leadership which he said is a recipe for disaster and impediment to development. According to the chief, Mim, an industrial center for the Brong Ahafo Region and the largest and most populated town in the municipality has suffered considerably under the MCEs administration, for which reason, a second term will only make a bad situation worse. He emphasized that the MCE is disrespectful of Nananom, adding that for the past four years he has refused to meet with Nananom, having turned down one of such invitations as recent as Friday, June 28, 2013. He further stated that the MCE intended to cause environmental damage by constructing an abattoir in the midst of a stream (Kokoteasua) in Mim against the position of (EPA) and Mim Town Council. The MCE has also been accused of refusing to inaugurate the Urban Council now Zonal Council but had gone to form a Zonal Council headed by a chairman who is seriously involved in a chieftaincy dispute and litigating with the Omanhene in court. The Omanhene underscored that the appointment of Mr. Kwaku Doku, who has contested the Parliamentary seat for the area on two occasions and rejected by the people for good reasons on those two occasions, is clearly against the wishes of the people. The Omanhene said his rejection is a clear indication that he is not accepted as a leader there because there is ample evidence that he is anti-development of the area. We pray to all parties involved in the nomination and confirmation process of the MCE for Asunafo North Municipality to seriously consider the plea and voices of Nananom and the people of the municipality, the Omanhene pleaded. Meanwhile, when reached on phone, Mr. Doku said the allegations are baseless and has declined to comment any further.
